MISH Hospital and Clinics

SPEAK-Up Program

Be an active partner in your healthcare. The Speak Up program empowers you to ask questions, voice concerns, and stay informed.

About the Speak Up Campaign

The Speak Up campaign was launched by The Joint Commission to encourage patients to become active, involved, and informed participants in their healthcare. At MISH Hospital, we wholeheartedly support this initiative because we know that patients who are engaged in their care experience better outcomes and greater satisfaction. The program's name is an acronym that provides a simple framework for patient engagement: S — Speak up if you have questions or concerns. If you still do not understand, ask again. It is your body and you have a right to know. P — Pay attention to the care you are receiving. Always make sure you are getting the right treatments and medicines from the right healthcare professionals. E — Educate yourself about your illness. Learn about the medical tests you receive and your treatment plan. A — Ask a trusted family member or friend to be your advocate and support person. K — Know what medicines you take and why you take them. Medicine errors are the most common healthcare mistakes. U — Use a hospital, clinic, surgery center, or other healthcare facility that has been carefully evaluated. P — Participate in all decisions about your treatment. You are the center of the healthcare team.
